General Mills is licensed by SODIAAL of France to market,
distribute and reap all profits from the sale of Yoplait in the United
States under a very specific licensing agreement. The USA is the only
place General Mills, based in Minneapolis, has such an agreement for any
such product. Although one could argue that General Mills has to pay
SODIAAL for the license, it is a better alternative than wholly
French-owned Dannon. Profits from the sale of Dannon go to France, and
the taxes on those profits are paid to the French government and French
investors. Profits on the sale of Yoplait in America go to General
Mills, who pays taxes to the American government to fund our military
and national defense, personnel, social security, the NASA space
program, and countless other benefits for Americans.
You may want to patronize your local store/supermarket brands
such a Publix, Safeway and Kroger if you do not feel comfortable buying
Yoplait. Columbo yogurt is also owned by General Mills, with no
relationship to SODIAAL, but is only available in the Northeastern
United States.
