The second edition of "How Americans Can Buy American: The Power of Consumer Patriotism" is now available in paperback for $16.95 plus $3 shipping and handling. The previous hardcover version, which sold for $24.95 plus $4 shipping and handling, is now out of print and is no longer available.
There are three main reasons the decision was made to print "How Americans Can Buy American" exclusively in paperback. First, at $16.95 the cost is lower which makes it more affordable to consumers. Second, a paperback book is lighter and easier to carry. And third, the new paperback is not only printed in the USA like the former hardcover version, but it is also union-printed as well.
All three of these reasons encourage a wider distribution of the book, and therefore the advantages of buying American to more people. This is, of course, good for the future prosperity of America as more jobs and profits will be kept within our borders as a result. It is also good for me as an author, enabling me to keep doing what I am doing to spread the word.
Many of you on this subscriber list, which has now grown to almost 2,300, have called me personally or emailed me to ask a question or suggest an American-made product I don't currently have listed. And many are surprised when the phone isn't answered by a staffer or an assistant (hopefully no one expected someone from India would be on the other end of the line).
That's because I don't have a paid staff to handle things like order fulfillment or customer service. Everything done to promote the Buy American agenda is done in my spare time after my regular full-time job and family responsibilities are taken care of. And I think I have had a pretty substantial impact in bringing publicity to the Buy American issue.
Media appearances to date include Fox & Friends, Fox News Live, "Your World with Neil Cavuto" (five times), Lou Dobbs Tonight (twice), CNN Headline News, CNN Saturday Morning News and MSNBC's "Economy Watch." I have been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today (twice), Financial Times, U.S. News & World Report, Industry Week, AAA World Magazine and New York Daily News. Radio shows include KFI Los Angeles and WGN Chicago. Feature articles have appeared in the Florida Today, Indianapolis Star, Tucson Citizen, The Journal News and Poughkeepsie Journal.
Most authors find it necessary to hire publicists to convince someone from the media to give them a shot at national TV, but I've never paid a publicist to bend a producer's ear to get me in front of the camera, so I can use the book proceeds to promote awareness; the kind that lets consumers know they have the power using the money they're already spending to keep America prosperous.
So if you've been putting off getting your copy of "How Americans Can Buy American" for whatever reason, the less-expensive paperback version is here.
If you do decide to purchase a copy for yourself or someone you know who needs to become aware of just how easy it is to buy American, I would suggest that you consider ordering through my website instead of ordering through a bookstore.
Although most bookstores are 100% American owned (Barnes & Noble is partially owned by a German publishing company), bookstores take 50% of the profits right off the top, and when all is said and done, the actual author of the book is left with 25-30%.
By ordering directly through my website at www.howtobuyamerican.com, I keep 100% of the purchase amount. If you believe in what I am doing and see the impact of what I've accomplished so far, ordering through my website will help to better fund my activities so I can continue to make a difference on this issue.
Just because the 2004 election is over, the Buy American issue isn't going away. Thank you for your continued support, which keeps me on the front lines of the battle for a better and more prosperous America.
Sincerely,
Roger Simmermaker, Author
