One if by Land, Two if by Sea
Our Buy American Mention of the Week!

There are many different reasons one could list for the current downturn in America's prosperity. Suggested culprits include an economic climate that encourages foreign production at the expense of domestic production, the low savings rate, a weak dollar, and a lack of adequate tariffs to level the playing field. The list goes on.

Still others have argued that today we face a situation similar to that of the Revolutionary War. But instead of worrying about a military invasion to challenge America's independence, we rather face a kind of economic invasion that threatens to rip up the very fabric of this nation. It's almost as if we are re-living a time where we might adopt a "One if By Land, Two if By Sea" warning system to alert us when we are indeed under attack and the very future of our country as we know and love it is as well.

The fine folks at Two Lamps Guild had this very warning system in mind when they formed their non-profit coalition of American manufacturers selling American-made products direct to the public. You can visit their website at www.twolamps.com to find out what they are all about and how to help support their Made-in-USA members.

Manufacturers that choose to belong to the Two Lamps Guild cannot produce anywhere but in the United States of America. From soft luggage, golf flags, totes and bags, pillows and apparel (for comfort, hunting, children and maternity/nursing) to cushions, health care and other flags and banners, it's worth paying a visit to www.twolamps.com.

The website selection is always in the process of expanding, so if you don't find exactly what you're looking for right now, I would encourage you to bookmark the page and check back later and often.

The reason for this encouragement is simple: This non-profit cooperative exists for the sole purpose of enhancing the business of its members, currently made up of eight Made-in-USA manufacturers. After several years of the import onslaught of foreign producers, Two Lamps wanted to prop up domestic manufacturers as much as possible to overcome the disadvantages most patriotic producers in this country face. It certainly is an uphill battle for many of our home manufacturers, to say the least.

Two Lamps reasoned that one of the best ways to work to the competitive interests of domestic producers was to cut out the middleman and market directly on the web. This helps their members to stay in business. What better way to preserve the American way of life we all know and love by preserving the very manufacturing plants that make that way of life possible through greater prosperity?

Two Lamps feels that if we are to avoid and resist the destruction of our way of life, these manufacturers need to unite under a common purpose and goal. You'll become very familiar with the patriotic purpose and goal of Two Lamps by visiting their website at www.twolamps.com. And chances are that if you're reading this article, you'll see that you agree with what they are trying to accomplish and may be motivated to lend your support through patronizing these American-made manufacturers.

If high-quality and high-value products are what you are looking for, spend your hard-earned money where it counts and support good-paying American jobs at the same time. Chances are this can't be done at Wal-Mart where you'll be diverting dollars to the middleman that Two Lamps is trying to avoid. Two lamps would rather have these dollars go directly to the manufacturers, bolstering their sustainability and competitiveness. After all, it is America's manufacturing sector - not our retail sector - that is currently in crisis.

Buy direct from American manufacturers that Wal-Mart wouldn't think of carrying anyway. Check it out at www.twolamps.com.
